Truk (Chuuk) & Yap, Micronesia: January 5 - 19, 2009
Please see our 2008 Truk & Yap Trip page for complete information. Come with us as we visit this pristine, remote area of the Pacific Ocean!
Truk, also known as Chuuk, a small island group in Micronesia, is considered a worldwide jewel of wreck diving, with at least 60 World War II ships sitting virtually untouched scattered across a 50 mile long lagoon area. These wrecks are covered in some of the most impressive coral growth and marine life in the Pacific, holding the very best of the undersea world and maritime history in one geographical area. With 3 to 5 dives per day off the world class live aboard dive boat Pacific Explorer II, three meals a day plus snacks, nitrox, and more this is a trip not to be missed. Warm, relatively clear, current free waters of this area provide comfortable diving for novice to expert.
If that isn't enough for you this trip also includes a stop at the Manta Ray Bay Resort on the island of Yap, world famous for its large population of resident manta rays. Add to all this a culture that in many ways is still the same as it was 100 years ago, and you have a great add-on to this adventure of a lifetime.
The package price is $6,495 and includes: Airfare to and from Minneapolis/St. Paul; 3 days of diving (2 tanks per day) and 4 nights lodging at the Manta Bay Resort in Yap; 7 nights aboard the Pacific Explorer II, along with all diving (including nitrox) and three meals a day (plus snacks) while aboard; 1 night at the Blue Lagoon Resort in Truk; 1 night at the Guam Fiesta Resort in Guam; all transfers from airports to lodging in Truk, Guam and Yap.
